Call for Tutorials

With more researchers and practitioners looking into studying and developing systems with self-* capabilities, the requirement for a deep understanding of fundamentals, theory, tools, processes, and approaches rises. The IEEE International Conference on Autonomic Computing and Self-Organizing Systems (ACSOS) is the prime conference for autonomic, self-adaptive, and self-organising systems and the leading forum to introduce, showcase, and disseminate to a wide audience to the tools, processes, and approaches you developed and improve understanding of fundamentals and theories.

ACSOS 2024 hereby solicits contributions for tutorials on tools, applications, processes and techniques in the area of autonomic computing, self-organisation, as well as related topics on autonomous and self-* behaviour. Tutorials are expected to follow the topics of the main Call for Papers and can either be deep technical tutorials (up to 4 hours) or shorter overview or hands-on tutorials (30 to 90 minutes) on topics suitable for a broader audience. These shorter tutorials are planned to be part of the main program of ACSOS 2024.

Proposals for ACSOS tutorials should be submitted through EasyChair https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=acsos2024 (select tutorial track).

Tutorial proposals

Proposals for tutorials should be organised as an advertisement for participation, with a maximum of two pages and contain the following information:

  • Title of the tutorial
  • Authors of the tutorial - name, contact information and affiliation. If multiple presenters/instructors are planned for the tutorial, please indicate the lead instructor
  • Contents level and prerequisites - beginner, intermediate, expert
  • Planned content of the tutorial including learning outcomes
  • Duration (30/60/90 minutes / 4 hours)
  • Target Audience (industry / academia / mixed)
  • Tutorial format - hands-on, theoretical,
  • Benefits/impact of this tutorial for the participants of ACSOS
  • Prerequisites for the participants
  • Short bio of the speakers in the tutorial
  • Information about previously given tutorials on the topic
  • Information whether this tutorial proposal is invited to complement an accepted ACSOS full paper
  • Abstract for the website (200 words)

followed by the tutorial paper submitted for inclusion in the proceedings of the IEEE International Conference on Autonomic Computing and Self-Organizing Systems Companion (ACSOS-C) with length restrictions:

  • Up to 10 pages including references for full tutorials of 4 hours duration
  • Up to 6 pages including references for shorter tutorials of 90 min duration
  • Up to 4 pages including references for short tutorials of 30 - 60 min duration

For tutorials connected to an accepted ACSOS full paper, the tutorial paper submission is optional. Only the organisational information as described above are required in this case.

Tutorial paper submissions are required to be formatted according to the standard IEEE Computer Society Press proceedings style guide.

Formatting for the tutorial proposal/advertisement containing the requested organisational information on up to 2 pages is not specified.

Important Tutorial Proposal Requirements

  • By submitting a tutorial proposal to IEEE International Conference on Autonomic Computing and Self-Organizing Systems, you are making a commitment to register and attend the conference upon acceptance of your tutorial proposal.
  • Please note, IEEE ACSOS 2023 cannot guarantee to honour specific requests for holding the tutorial on specific dates.
  • The tutorial abstract — title, abstract, and instructors — will be included in the proceedings of the IEEE International Conference on Autonomic Computing and Self-Organizing Systems Companion (ACSOS-C).

Upon Tutorial Acceptance

  • Tutorial abstract for proceedings — title, abstract, and instructor(s) — will be included in the proceedings of the IEEE International Conference on Autonomic Computing and Self-Organizing Systems Companion (ACSOS-C).
  • Slides and handouts — Tutorial materials (i.e., slides and handouts) will be made available to tutorial registrants for download. The suggested format for all presentation slides is 16:9 (i.e., 1920 x 1080).
  • Registration — One presenter per tutorial receives a complimentary one-day tutorial pass registration for the day of his or her tutorial. Otherwise, presenters must register for the conference and/or any tutorials they wish to attend.
  • Proposals will be reviewed by a panel and accepted based on expected impact, experience, and interest for the audience.
